I was blessed to grow up in a loving Christian home. I came to know Jesus at the age of 14 and surrendered to God's call to ministry at 17. Jesus has been so kind to me, and he has blessed me with a wonderful family. Kelli and I have been married for 17 years and have 4 children: Jani, Juli, Ali, and Jake, Jr. My desire is to glorify Jesus in all that I do and to lead myself, my family, and our church to LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, MAKE DISCIPLES.

My favorite scripture is "Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ."
(Philippians 3:8)

I enjoy any activity with my family, and I especially enjoy basketball, tennis, golf, backpacking, hunting, and fishing. I also enjoy watching sports and funny movies.

As for food, I praise the Lord that he gave it to us to enjoy! I particularly enjoy sushi, steaks, seafood, and sweets.

My desire is to lead the body of believers into worship that exalts God, humbles the heart and transforms lives.  I seek to lead God’s people to reach out to our community and welcome all to become fully committed followers of Christ.  Through my multiple responsibilities, I encourage involvement in small group Bible Study, personal worship, and participation in ministry.

I enjoy hobbies that require working with my hands. Wood-working and upholstery are a couple of my outlets.

I enjoy fishing and playing golf, though not totally dedicated to either.

Pastor to Students

I was fortunate to be raised in a family that attended church. Though I heard the gospel message many times as a young boy, God did not save me until I was seventeen. He used the ministry of my own student pastor to make the gospel and salvation clear to me.

When I first felt called to ministry I had no clue what that meant. I spent the next ten years preparing for when God would eventually send me here to First Baptist Church in Huntingdon, TN.

My wife, Hannah, and I first met in college (Mississippi College). We married during my time in seminary (The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary). We have been married for 4 years. We have one son, James, and a daughter on the way.

Hannah pushed me then to be a better student in seminary, just as she continues to push me now to be a better pastor, husband, and father. James is a pure source of joy and entertainment. I enjoy any time I get to spend with them.

pastor of outreach and recreation

I have been on staff since September, 2000.  I began as the Children and Recreation Minister and currently serve as the Recreation and Sports Minister.  My prayer is to see people of all ages have a relationship with Christ and grow in their walk with Him.  We use Recreation and Sports as a tool to reach people for Christ in an environment that meets their needs and interests.

Our Recreation and Sports Ministry verse is I Corinthians 9:22-23.

I love my family and I am blessed to walk through life with Holly, Ty, Quinn, and Max.

Holly’s seafood gumbo always makes me happy.

Blessed to live in Huntingdon; Love It!

I am a sports fanatic – enjoy playing, but not as much as I enjoy watching my kids play.

I have worked in our preschool and children’s ministry in several different roles since 1993; serving as Preschool/Children’s Minister since 2005. The goals I have for this ministry include encouraging families to apply Biblical principles to their lives; offering opportunities for children to “hear, know, and do” Bible truths through study, activities, and fellowship; and creating a network of families who encourage each other to live by Biblical principles and enjoy fellowship together.

My favorite Bible verse is Deuteronomy 6:5-9.

I love to organize things. One of my favorite junior high memories is spending the night at a friend’s house and helping her clean her closet.

I am counting my blessings by counting my grandchildren! I’d love to tell you about them.

Enjoying the lake from the screen porch is a dream come true.

Relaxation is spending time in front of my sewing and embroidery machines.
